The Companies that make up OHL Group – some having been part of the OHL Group of companies since its inception in 1999 - have a long history of executing work abroad. In fact, the first construction work carried out by the Group dates back to 1912, with the construction of two docks in the Port of Lisbon, Portugal.

OHL is considered a pioneer in the international construction industry. The OHL Group is responsible for completing projects throughout Europe more than five decades before many of its current Spanish competitors. In addition, OHL has been active since 1918 in Africa and a presence in the U.S. market place since the 1950’s.

Since the creation of the OHL Group, the company’s overseas activity has soared. Currently, OHL has successfully completed project, focusing on major infrastructure projects and non-residential construction work, in 33 countries across four continents. Currently OHL has established permanent roots in 15 countries, where it boasts a wide-ranging network of local offices and subsidiaries.
