Description: Four-story performing arts and activity center. Total 78,000 sq. ft.
The Theater Building consists of massive amounts of structural steel, of which most vertical steel is encased in concrete. The building design is unique in the sense that the Theater is in fact two separate units which is totally independent of each other. These separate units are separated from each other by a 2” acoustical joint. The acoustical joint is essential to prevent any external noise and vibrations from electrical and mechanical equipment to be transmitted into the auditorium where the performances will take place. The integrity of the joint can not be violated in any way and it has to be kept clean of structural material and construction debris. The Theater Building will also be equipped with a state of the art Sound and Communication system, as well as an orchestra lift and a trap room in the basement area. The north elevation of the building consists of a glass curtain wall that spans the full width (130’) and height (83’) of the front of the building. The Theater will also have a panelist system in the lobby area that will be 35‘ in height and 83‘ in width. This system will have multiple colored led lights behind it that will constantly change color, delivering an awe-inspiring effect that will be visible for miles. The exterior skin of the building consists of different colored insulated metal wall panels, while the fly tower and back of house area are fully grouted CMU.
